YouTube has officially rolled out its highly anticipated “Add Yours” sticker for all Shorts users, a feature designed to enhance interactive and collaborative content creation. Initially announced in July and tested with select users, the sticker is now available to creators worldwide, enabling them to prompt viewers to share their responses in the form of Shorts.

Similar to Instagram’s “Add Yours” sticker, and reminiscent of TikTok’s Duet feature, this new tool allows users to create a chain of related content. For example, a creator can post a video showcasing their dog and use the sticker to encourage others to share their pet videos. Or, someone might post an “Outfit of the Day” and prompt others to follow suit, creating a fun, engaging thread of content.

To use the sticker, creators simply record their Short, tap the sticker icon, select the “Add Yours” sticker, and add a prompt for viewers to respond to. Once published, viewers can tap the sticker to see other responses or record their Shorts, building a collaborative community around the original video. This feature is aimed at encouraging participation and interaction, which could help spark new trends and boost overall engagement on the platform.

The introduction of the “Add Yours” sticker is part of YouTube’s broader efforts to enhance creator tools for Shorts. Other recent updates include the ability to automatically transform longer videos into Shorts, as well as customizable auto-generated captions with various fonts and colors. As Shorts continues to see explosive growth, averaging over 70 billion daily views, YouTube’s push for collaborative features aims to further engage users and compete with rival platforms like TikTok and Instagram.

While some may point out the similarity between YouTube’s new features and those of other platforms, the move reflects a larger trend in social media, where platforms borrow and adapt popular features to keep users engaged. By fostering more collaborative and community-driven content, YouTube Shorts is positioning itself as a major player in the short-form video space.
